Logan Adrien Garr, Syd or Sydpaw to their work friends, is a Registered Veterinary Technician working for Banfield Pet Hospital. They are known by their close friends, outside of work, as Adrien and by their younger sister as Sib. Adrien was born June 12th, 2001. They started working for Banfield Pet Hospital on October 26th, 2020.

Adrien was first drawn to veterinary medicine when they were a senior in Highschool, up to which point they had been entertaining a higher education in teaching English or Art. One major deciding factor was their cousin, Shelby Garr, who works as a Veterinary Technician at MedVet. After discussing what it’s like to work in veterinary medicine with their cousin, and weighing their options, Adrien pursued their education in Veterinary Technology through the International Business College Veterinary Technician Institute from 2019-2020. “I have always been drawn to animals, and many have been drawn to me. We’ve always had pets at home; dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, hamsters, and many fish. I have a history with helping animals: upbringing, husbandry, training, and general care. It was just fitting for me to go into a career with animals.

Adrien is on their third year working in Veterinary Medicine and celebrated their one-year anniversary as an RVT on March 25th. After completing their externship with Banfield Pet Hospital, a clinical performance step in most veterinary technician programs, Adrien was offered and accepted a full-time position. Adrien worked as a Veterinary Assistant until taking the VTNE (Veterinary Technician National Exam) in July of 2021 and their state exam in March of 2022. “I was actually registered three days after I finished my (state) test…I remember having this need to check my phone and there was the email with my license in it. I was at work when I got the email. It was exciting and I proceeded to share the news immediately with my coworkers.”

Adrien’s favorite area of veterinary medicine is exotics, particularly birds. “I had wanted to work with exotic pets since I started college as I absolutely adore birds.” They jump at the chance to assist with any appointment involving birds, rabbits, chinchillas, and other exotic pets.

Adrien lives with their parents and younger sister, who will be starting her own college education this fall, possibly alongside Adrien who is considering pursuing an education in teaching. They were born in Florida but grew up in Indiana until 2012 when they moved to South Carolina to be closer to their Grandparents. Moving back to Indiana in 2017, they have been here ever since.

Adrien spends most of their time at home playing RPGs (role playing games) and first-person shooters such as: Valorant, Overwatch, Legend of Zelda, and Hogwarts Legacy, to name a few. They also enjoy reading science fiction and fantasy novels, their current favorite being “Fault in Our Starts” (John Green.)

Adrien has six pets at home: their cat Remmy, their sister’s cat Ravenpaw, two big dogs, Luna and Charli, and two chihuahuas, Ellie and Iris. “We had a dachshund that picked me when we got him and since then they have been my favorite breed.”

Adrien is a valued member of the Banfield Greenwood Team and continues to grow both in skills and in knowledge. Their attention to detail and focus on quality is one of their most prominent contributions to every patient visit they manage.
